* The number of adults with credit cards is in decline
* More new applications for cards declined by lenders in 2009 (48%) than in 2008 (42%)
* 20 million adults use their cards regularly – 1.7 times a week
* Average number of cards per customer is 2.3
* 66% of customers have either 1 or 2 cards
